3.1

You don’t have to run to the doctor right away when your child gets sick. You must visit the doctor if it is something serious but if they simply have a cold, there are a number of safe and effective home remedies to deal with it.

Ginger Fights Colds

Ginger has the ability to help your child fight with cold because it has been shown to increase the circulation in the blood and it also warms up the blood. These two characteristics make it great for expelling phlegm from the body.

Add five grams of ginger to a cup of boiling water in order to make you child eat the ginger. Add a teaspoon of honey after steeping for about 10 minutes. Let your child drink the mixture when it cools down.

Honey Cold Remedy

Use your child milk bottle to make this remedy. Fill it with milk and add about 1/2 teaspoon of honey. This remedy can help a child keep the symptoms to a minimum while also fighting off the cold. Dosage of twice a day is recommended. It is important to know that this remedy is not recommended for children under one year old because it contains botulinum spores that can be dangerous.

Garlic

Garlic is another great food for fighting colds. Garlic has the ability to destroy bad bacteria in the body. Steep the garlic for about 10 minutes in hot water and after the water cools, allow your child to sip on it throughout the day.

For Babies Six Months or Older, use Chicken Noodle Soup

The soup remedy works for children over six months old and it has been shown to reduce inflammation, reduce fever and relieve the symptoms of a cold.

Saline Drops

You can remove the trapped and hardened mucus on the nose by simply adding a few saline drops. Since it can have the reverse effect of drying out the nose if used too often, this should only be done up to four times a day.
